Your TCL remote is probably an IR (infrared) remote and doesn't have to be paired. I assume it doesn't have a microphone button which would make it a voice remote which would have to be paired. Only remotes that have to be paired show up in the TV's settings. Remote buttons do wear out. If you mash the power button really hard does it work?
With CEC enabled on the TV, pressing a Roku control button on your Roku remote (not the power, volume, or mute buttons if you have them, because they act on the TV not the Roku) "1-touch play" should wake the TV from a standby state if necessary and switch the TV to the HDMI port to which your Roku is connected without you having to do it via ...
If your Roku TV isn't on the network, the app will never work. And unless you can connect your TV to a wired network, there's no way to connect it to a WiFi network without a remote. You can get a generic IR remote that works with a Roku TV for very low cost. Most are under $10-15.
This is the older black spectrum rc122 control. I also tried 1098. The Roku tcl tv will not shut off or control the volume with the Spectrum remove. Channel up or down is controlled. The Spectrum remote does appear to turn on the Roku tv but not turn it off. This is my wife's tv and she's been complaining about this for a while.
Volume, mute and channel up/down are also much better than the TCL/Roku remote. Oh and it also allows the volume button to control the volume through the soundbar. My remote is Insignia. NS-RC4NA-14. You can buy the remote on Ebay, or maybe even at Best Buy. Pick up your old TV remote and see if it works! Mine does!
Re: My TCL Roku remote and Roku App stopped connecting to my TCL tv so we can’t watch anything Jump to solution Something similar happened to me the remote stopped working I went under settings to the power settings and turned on fast start and the remote started working perfectly again.
We have 2 TCL Roku TVs in our living room side by side. The remotes will work for either TV but it's annoying at times because if we only want to turn on one TV, the other will turn on. Or if we want to change the channel, it could affect the other TV unless we get super close to the device and point the remote directly at it.
With optical only you will not be able to control the volume with roku tv remote, sorry. You should turn off the speakers on the tv, just use the volume of the soundbar, and if you don't want to use two remotes get universal that will control a roku tv and soundbar like the One-For-All urc-7935 streamer remote.
My Roku remote recently stopped being able to change TV channels on my TCL, Model 55S401, software version 11.0.0, build 4139-30. All other functions of the remote such as scrolling through the main menus, controlling all the apps, etc., work fine. The batteries in the remote are fine and I did a factory reset to the TV. It did not help
hi I just bought a TCL ROKU tv. I have a slim remote from my cable company Bell Fibe in Canada. It will not pair with my TV. Roku TV does list the tv codes for American cable companies but not for Canadian cable companies. For some reason I have an older remote from Bell Fibe and it did pair with my Tv. This remote however is more cumbersome.
