are at Hill Country State Natural Area down there south of Bandera. Is there a big huntable herd or slim picins. I noticed it listed in the draw hunt book and wondered if it would be worth it or would I be wasting my time and preference points. Thanks
Re: Hill Country State Natural Area - 03/18/15 12:32 AM I drive out that way occasionally and hunted near there at one time. There is a big population of whitetail and axis in the area.
Re: Hill Country State Natural Area - 01/01/11 11:31 PM My uncle lives in Medina trust me the numbers are there. I don't think there was a die-off but it has been an odd year for seeing deer there this year. weights are from all the millions of acorns this year.

I have hunted in the state natural area, and in bandera, and near Medina, all i can say is; if you're going for hogs, you probably wont see any.
Hey, I was drawn for GDE at Hill Country State Natural Area and want to know if anyone has hunted there before? I don't know anything about the area and would appreciate any tips. Also, any information on the deer population. Thanks.

huntsmanda your pm box is full, I was going to send you a pm. thanks for info if you get a chance and you make it back out there, would you send me some info or your opinion on it, I sure would appreciate it, I am up in Oklahoma and its to far to make a weekend trip to scout, I would like to spend 2-3 days walking around. have a good weekend.
The country is very thick cedar. We had hot weather the first day and then a norther blew in the last night and made it tougher. If it's cold you should do alright.
