In short, any good diesel oil will be fine in your truck as long as it meets the specs required by GM. 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLT 4X4 CCSB Silver Birch Metallic / 6.6 Duramax / 5 Speed Allison 1000 /
Still don't have 10k yet on the truck so it'll get better a bit. With all the capabilities of this truck, my guess is GM put a lower priority on aero. The difference in mpg between 58, 60, 62, 65 and 68 is quite startling. Under 65, 20mpg is very doable. The 100 mile stretch I did at 58 was 24.....at 68mph it's a 17 mpg truck at best.
My 2024 Duramax is the worst fuel economy one I have ever had. I have owned 7. The truck has 18,000 miles, I have towed our 11,000 lb Fifth wheel 15,000 miles and have averaged 8 mpg. When not towing the truck get 13 mpg. GM has reprogramed my truck 3 time now. No improvement. I have towed the same trailer with my 2022 Duramax 19 to 20 mpg.

I have a Chevy Silverado 3500 HD Dooley. My last silvverado was the 2500 Duramax and I was able to walk away while on a road trip with my dog in the truck air conditioning on in the truck locked. I could go into a restaurant for an hour and eat and come back and it’s not a problem.
I was driving out of the driveway and the truck just stopped like someone turned the key off. Now the truck won't start. It will turn over, but won't start. I pressed the primer bulb about 12-15 times and still nothing. It doesn't even try to start. No air is coming out of the bleed screw, just fuel.
On the passenger side of the motor you will find the fuel filter assembly. On top there is a primer cylinder and a plastic bleeder screw. Pump the cylinder until it gets hard, then crack the bleeder and let the air out. Repeat the process until fuel comes out and the truck stays running.
