We love visiting Cape Charles Beach. The sand is soft and clean, and the water is calm and quite shallow for a good way off of the beach. At low tide sand bars appear allowing the kids to claim entire "islands" of their own. You see numerous small fish, and find tiny hermit crabs and periwinkles just offshore.
