When I priced out closets, Ikea customized closets ran about half the price of California Closets. I ended up designing my own closet system which was a combo of one part (some basic shelves and double hanging rods) that was custom made by a local carpenter to fit the space, and a bunch of Ikea Billy bookcases.
I want to say $7K. I do remember we used Boston Closet. We interviewed all of the closet companies people know about like California Closets and Closets by Design. They were all literally twice the cost of Boston Closet and the organizer systems were basically the same among all of the companies we spoke with. Quote:
