Laudervale was a Victorian sandstone mansion near Dunoon, Scotland, most notable for being the home of Sir Harry Lauder. [1] The house was located on Bullwood Road, a few hundred metres south of Bullwood. Built as Gerhallow House, it was bought by Harry Lauder and his wife from Douglas Granville Gossling on 20 May 1908.
He used the profits from his business to buy and establish property across London. [2] The house was designed by architect David Hamilton who also designed Castle Toward and Hutchesons' Hospital. [3] Dunoon Town Council purchased the house, for £4,600, [4] in 1893 and used it to house the Council Chamber and Tulloch Free Library. [1]
Originally one of a row of cottages, the four-bedroom, semi-detached property – neighboured by No. 16 Crosbie Road – pre-dates the foundation of fabled links club, established in 1878.
