[ 3 ] The county was named in honor of Richard Montgomery , an American Revolutionary War general, who was killed in 1775 while attempting to capture Quebec City , Canada . [ 4 ]
Shawen Acres, also known as the Montgomery County Children's Home, is a historic complex in Dayton, Ohio. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 9, 1991. [2] It was originally designed as an orphans home. Dr. Charles Shawen donated 19 acres (77,000 m 2) to the county March 21, 1926 for "wayward and homeless children."

Oakwood is a city in Montgomery County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,572 at the 2020 census. A suburb of Dayton, Oakwood is part of the Dayton metropolitan area. It was incorporated in 1908. John Henry Patterson, industrialist and founder of the National Cash Register Corporation, is considered the "Father of Oakwood." [5]
