  2. 6013 on thin material question - WeldingWeb

    weldingweb.com/vbb/threads/668591-6013-on-thin-material-question

some rod has more iron powder in flux AND the flux is thicker on rod so it can run at higher amps. there are advantages and disadvantages with it. faster disposition or welding rate and smoother looking welds. some 6013 has some cellulose mixed in and thin flux coating and is more a quick freezing puddle better for sheet metal, gap filling, out ...

  3. new to stick...6013 vs 6011 vs 7014 - Weld Talk Message Boards

    weldtalk.hobartwelders.com/forum/weld-talk-topic-archive/welding-processes/...

As a general rule how fast should I move with a 6013 1/8 rod welding two pieces of 1/4" steel plate together with a miller 225 stick, welder set at about 150 amps... I usually use a "shaky hand technique", which is a made up/fictional technique/name that I use basically to describe how I "bounce" the stick back and forth against the two pieces ...

  4. 6013 vs. 7014 - WeldingWeb

    weldingweb.com/vbb/threads/169801-6013-vs-7014

Novice; hobby welding with: Mostly 6013 and some 6011, using 1/16" (ugh), 5/64" and 3/32" rods, On 1/8", 3/16", some occasional 1/4" flat stock, some rebar and 1/4" to 1/2" rod stock. For my light work, no structural stuff, the 6013's seem to work OK. My question is would there be any real advantage to use 7014 rods for any of this stuff?

  5. New to stick welding rod advice.

    weldingweb.com/vbb/threads/592361-New-to-stick-welding-rod-advice

6013 rod normally you use as big a rod as possible and at as high a amperage as possible. look in procedure handbook of welding by lincoln and they recommend 3/16 rod at 200 amps when welding 1/8 or thicker. 99% of problems with 6013 is using too small a rod at too low a amperage and traveling too slow. normally i weld 3/16 or thicker steel ...

  6. 6010 vs. 6011 vs. 6013???? - WeldingWeb

    weldingweb.com/vbb/threads/41815-6010-vs-6011-vs-6013

6013 is a very different bird. It is a drag rod (short arc) with heavy slag compared to 6010/6011. Much less penetration with 6013. 6013 has fest freeze characteristics like 6010 and 6011. 6010 is the code rod for root passes on carbon steel pipe and pressure pipe.

  7. Welding Rod For 14ga. Rectangle Tubing

    weldingweb.com/vbb/threads/713708-Welding-Rod-For-14ga-Rectangle-Tubing

sure some videos welding 1/4" plate leaning rod 45 degree and dab dab welding 80-90 amps I am thinking why dab dab on thick stuff and why lean rod so much. some welds look rough and others welds like the stack of dimes effect. some videos show welding 16ga tubing to heavy 6mm plate and why lean towards and favor

  8. 1/16 welding rod 6011 and 7018

    weldingweb.com/vbb/threads/577041-1-16-welding-rod-6011-and-7018

i had no problems controlling 1/16 6013 and 7014 rod in length HF has them made to welding 1/8 thick 1-1/4 square tubing. actually welds came out looking good and rod for me was easier to control than using 3/32 6011 rod at 50-60 amps..... for 1/8 and thinner steel actually little 80 amp inverter worked good for me..

  9. 6013 polarity - weldingweb.com

    weldingweb.com/vbb/threads/579221-6013-polarity

OP, just try the polarities with the 6013 you have and see which one you prefer. Minnesota explained the differences with polarity, perfectly. That said, I really prefer 6013 on A/C but DC- for really thin stuff when I don't feel like dragging out a mig and messing with shielding gas and the wind. But this is just me and how I like it. YMMV.

  10. European welding rod

    weldingweb.com/vbb/threads/585431-European-welding-rod

anybody welding in Europe, Asia, Australia, etc who has used stick welding rod that that is different than USA types??. in particular the ISO and DIN welding rod naming system seems confusing but it seems to basically be these main rod types. 1) cellulose (6010/6011) 2) rutile (6012, 6013, 7014, 7024) 3) basic (7016, 7018, 7028).

  11. 6011 or 6013 rod - WeldingWeb

    weldingweb.com/vbb/threads/429871-6011-or-6013-rod

I just joined the forum and have a question about AC rod. I am basically a hobby welder and need some input on which rod is best and easiest to run--6011 or 6013. I am retired and collect old garden tractors. I have a Hobart 140 mig I just purchased and love it for light metal but will be doing some heavier metal which I will be using a Lincoln ...
