01-08-2009, 05:14 AM. Re: Base board labour rates. $1.50/lineal foot per piece for profiles up to 3 1/2" tall, $.50/inch of profile more for anything taller. That's for any type of flat profile, base, casing, panel mold, etc. For crown I charge $1 per inch of profile/lineal foot.
Removal and haul away, frame prep, sill pan, install, interior and exterior trim,lock and hardware install plus the items you "inherit after touching". Currently send 2 men, both skilled, costing $40.00 -$50.00 an hour per man.Our base price is $925.00 which includes all items above, plus casing, sealant , insulation for an average door.

I want to ask some questions about baseboard installations and things about the time it takes. I was quite depressed today when I got done and realized that I had installed maybe 50 ft of baseboard in an 8 hour day. But in that 50 ft there were a little over 40 pieces that had to be cut, I believe.
Plus 30 min. install. So 2.5 hrs x your locally tolerated hourly rate. if your rate is $100 per hr. your cost would be $250 plus cost of materials (maybe $50). Now divide 300 by 32 sq. ft. or $9.38 per sq. ft. The parameters change if you are installing 60 sheets in a new butcher shop or commercial kitchen.

Seek out the good builders, maybe the companies that do high end remodels or new builds on a cost plus basis. In regards to Gary W's comments, I live in the same area as he does. I do mostly remodels in a high end area ( house values of $700,000 on up). I figure I will pay a trim carpenter at 3.00/sq ft or $30-$40/hr.

Mark, while I agree that what was explicitly agreed is very important, in practice a lot of things are not explicit on jobs like this, and "standard practice" can to an extent be inferred from things like who you hired, what you paid, etc. Guys doing business with customers and subs every day struggle with ...
Re: Cabinet Install Estimate. I charge 30 -35% for cabinet installs under $15,000 in cabinets and extras and 25% installs over $15,000 in cabinets and extras. knobs and handles are 2.00 a hole. Sac, CA. Anythings other than cabs, ie lights and plumbing I charge standard rates.
