Guatemala City (Spanish: Ciudad de Guatemala, also known nationally colloquially by the nickname as Guate), is the national capital and largest city of the Republic of Guatemala. [4] It is also a municipality capital of the Guatemala Department and the most populous urban metropolitan area in the region of Central America.

The 2008 CONCACAF Futsal Championship was the fourth edition of the main international futsal tournament of the North and Central America and the Caribbean region. It took place in Guatemala City , Guatemala from 3 to 8 June 2008, with the Domo Polideportivo de la CDAG as the only venue.
The Motagua River, whose principal head stream is called the Rio Grande, has a course of about 400 kilometres (250 mi), and is navigable to within 140 km (90 mi) of Guatemala City which is situated on one of its confluents, the Rio de las Vacas. It empties in the Gulf of Honduras, an arm of the Caribbean.
It is next to the main Guatemala City municipality and has become part of the Guatemala City Metropolitan Area. Most of Mixco is separated from the City by canyons, for which a multitude of bridges have been created. It is the second largest city in Guatemala after Guatemala City, with a population of 475,777.
