The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland Glencorse Barracks is a British Army barracks situated in Glencorse just outside the town of Penicuik in Midlothian , Scotland .
Following the Childers Reforms, the regiment evolved to become the Royal Welch Fusiliers with its depot in the barracks in 1881. [ 3 ] Many recruits were enlisted at the barracks at the start of the First World War [ 1 ] and the Denbighshire Hussars also moved their headquarters there just before the start of the war. [ 4 ]
The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers was created in 1968 after the amalgamation of four regiments. Thus the museum is part of a family of other Fusilier museums: the Fusiliers Museum of Northumberland in Alnwick Castle, the Fusilier Museum (Lancashire) in Bury and the Fusiliers Museum (London) at the Tower of London.
