The ARC is the largest trans-ocean sailing event in the world and regularly attracts over 200 boats of many different shapes and sizes. The route takes between 8 and 31 days aided by trade winds, and covers over 2700 nautical miles. [1] Founded by Jimmy Cornell it is now organised by the World Cruising Club, which also arranges a World ARC.

Atlantis Events was founded in 1991 to organize resort vacations, beginning with an event at the Club Med resort at Playa Blanca in Costa Careyes, Jalisco, Mexico. [3] [4] The company began chartering cruise ships in 1998. [5] In October 2007, Atlantis acquired competitor RSVP Vacations from RSVP's parent company, PlanetOut. [6]
An expansion that was completed in fall 2008 included 230 new hotel rooms, 30,000-square-foot event center and a bowling center complete with an arcade area. In 2015, Tado Steakhouse was constructed, and the Tradewinds Buffet was remodeled [6] and the water park & spa construction began. [7] The Lagoon and Wave Spa opened February 9, 2016. [8]
