Earl K. Long Gymnasium is a 1,121-seat multi-purpose sports venue on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Lafayette, Louisiana. It is home of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns volleyball team. It was built in 1939 and named for Earl K. Long, who served as governor of Louisiana at the time. [2]

Red Lerille. Lloyd "Red" Lerille (born June 9, 1936) [1] [2] is a New Orleans native and the winner of numerous bodybuilding titles, including Mr. New Orleans in 1955, Mr. Armed Forces and Mr. Hawaii in 1958, Mr. Dixie in 1959, and AAU Mr. America which he won in 1960. [3]

In 1965 they settled on the latter, and in 1966 a 43-acre (170,000 m 2 ) section of land around the Pythian Home on South 18th Street was purchased to accommodate the project.
