The Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) is a 170-mile (274 km) long-distance hiking trail that forms a loop around the Lake Tahoe Basin in the Sierra Nevada and ranges of Nevada and California in the United States. [1] The trail ranges in elevation from 6,223 feet (1,897 m) at the outlet of Lake Tahoe to 10,338 feet (3,151 m) at Relay Peak in Nevada.
Among the area's multiple trails are the Flume Trail, which has views of Lake Tahoe, and a portion of the Tahoe Rim Trail. The area encompasses Marlette Lake and Hobart Reservoir, which were created to feed the Marlette Lake Water System during the area's early mining and logging years. Remnants of abandoned mills can be seen.
The area along the creek is protected by the California State Parks system. The Park has an extensive trail system that ties in with the bike path along Highway 89 and connects with USFS trails to Stanford Rock (which lies midway between Twin Peaks and the mouth of Ward Creek) and the Tahoe Rim Trail.
Incline Creek is a 5.2-mile (8.4 km) southward-flowing stream originating in the Carson Range, Sierra Nevada in the northeast Lake Tahoe Basin in Washoe County in western Nevada. Incline Creek flows through the Diamond Peak Ski Area on the way to Incline Village where it empties into Lake Tahoe .

The Freel Roadless Area is named for Freel Peak, the highest point in both the Lake Tahoe Basin and the Carson Range. Freel Peak supports one of the few areas of alpine cushion plants this far north in the Sierra Nevada/Carson Range. Both the Pacific Crest Trail and the Tahoe Rim Trail pass through these roadless areas.
From the peak Mound House, Carson City, Lake Tahoe, Reno and Carson Valley are all clearly visible. The peak is accessible along the Tahoe Rim Trail from the Spooner Lake Trailhead.
