Newport on the Levee is a dining and attraction destination located on Third Street in Newport, Kentucky. The Monmouth Street Historic District is located in Newport, Kentucky. The district was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. [ 1 ] The district includes Monmouth Street, the main commercial street of the city, between Third Street (near Newport on the Levee ), then south to Eleventh Street.
Lightman named this storefront theatre "The Liberty Theater", and later opened a 400-seat theatre, "The Majestic" across the river in Florence, Alabama at 204 North Court Street, in August 1919. Lightman opened a third theatre in the area before accepting an offer from another local theatre owner to buy out his theatres in the area.
Newport Aquarium is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. [ 4 ] The Aquarium has 70 exhibits, 14 galleries, and consists of 1,000,000 US gal (3,800,000 L) of water, including five acrylic tunnels totaling over 200 ft (61 metres) in length.
Lancaster is located west of the center of Garrard County. U.S. Route 27 passes through the city, leading north 35 miles (56 km) to Lexington and south 39 miles (63 km) to Somerset. Kentucky Route 52 crosses US 27 in the center of Lancaster, leading east and northeast 23 miles (37 km) to Richmond, and west 11 miles (18 km) to Danville.
