It was built in 1876, and is a single span covered timber bridge. It measures 131 feet (40 m) long and 14 feet (4.3 m) wide.
The Cataract Falls Covered Bridge is a covered bridge that spans Mill Creek in Lieber State Recreation Area, Owen County, Indiana. Built in 1876 by the Smith Bridge company of Toledo, Ohio, [2] it was at one time one of the most famous and photographed covered bridges in the United States. The building of the bridge at this location can be attributed to County Commissioner J.M. May.
