While all GMC pickup trucks were now badged under a singular Sierra nameplate, GM still used C and K as internal model codes for both divisions. In a marketing change, GM adopted the 1500/2500/3500 series previously used by GMC for both divisions (denoting 1 ⁄ 2-ton, 3 ⁄ 4-ton, and 1-ton nominal payload).
