Jeremiah 22 is the twenty-second chapter of the Book of Jeremiah in the Hebrew Bible or the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. This book contains prophecies attributed to the prophet Jeremiah , and is one of the Books of the Prophets .
YHWH (verses 17–18; probably verse 22) announcing the exile and the siege. Daughter Zion (verses 19–21; probably verses 23–25) lamenting her fate (cf. Isaiah 54:1–3; she is bereft of children, verse 20; her leaders have wounded her and her people are scattered verse 21) and pleading YHWH for justice.
This chapter is divided into 22 verses in Christian Bibles, but 23 verses in the Hebrew Bible, Hebrew manuscripts and in the JPS Version, where Jeremiah 9:1 is recorded as Jeremiah 8:23. Streane notes that this verse is "virtually a repetition of Jeremiah 30:22" and therefore argues that it should be treated as part of chapter 30.
