Darrell Cecil "Shifty" Powers (13 March 1923 – 17 June 2009) [1] was a non-commissioned officer with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II. Powers was portrayed in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers by Peter Youngblood Hills.
There he befriended Darrell "Shifty" Powers. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Wynn and Powers along with others in the vocational school were shipped to Navy Shipyard at Portsmouth to work on the battleships. [3] Right before they were about to be frozen to the job, Wynn and Powers enlisted in the army and volunteered for the paratroopers. [3]
He was born in Johannesburg, to an American mother (raised in North East Tennessee, USA) and English father (who was raised in Lusaka, Zambia). Both parents were trained as classical singers. His parents separated when he was a child and his father remarried his stepmother, a lifetime choir master and music teacher.
