The late Middle Ages or late medieval period was the period of European history lasting from AD 1300 to 1500. The late Middle Ages followed the High Middle Ages and preceded the onset of the early modern period (and in much of Europe, the Renaissance). [1] Around 1350, centuries of prosperity and growth in Europe came to a halt.
The MWP is generally thought to have occurred from about 950 CE to about 1250 CE, during the European Middle Ages. [2] Some researchers divide the MWP into two phases: MWP-I, which began around 450 CE and ended around 900 CE, and MWP-II, which lasted from about 1000 CE to about 1300 CE; MWP-I is called the early Medieval Warm Period while MWP-II is called the conventional Medieval Warm Period.
