Whitby Town Football Club is an English football club based in Whitby, North Yorkshire. The club participates in the Northern Premier League , the seventh tier of English football. Founded in 1880, Whitby are one of the oldest clubs from the North Riding of Yorkshire .
Whitby Town F.C. was founded as Streaneshalch Football Club in October 1880, [1] soon after its foundation the club changed its name to Whitby Church Temperance. The name was changed in late 1882 to Whitby Football Club and continued to play friendly games as well as competing in the Scarborough & East Riding County Cup.
He followed this up by signing his first professional contract with the club on 29 December 2023. [3] In September 2024, he signed for Northern Premier League Premier Division division club Blyth Spartans on a 28-day loan deal. [4] [5] On 30 November, he signed for Whitby Town on a short-term loan deal. [6]
Braithwaite came through the youth academy at Grimsby Town beginning with the under-9's. He was ever present in the youth team and reserve team until 2022. In April 2022, Braithwaite signed his first professional contract with the club. [1] On 30 August 2022, Braithwaite made his full professional debut against Derby County in the EFL Trophy. [2]
He re-joined Whitby on loan for the remainder of the 2022–23 season. [8] On 9 May 2023, it was announced that Grimsby had taken up an option in Bramwell's contract to extend it until the end of the 2023–24 season. [9] Following the conclusion of the 2023–24 season, Bramwell was released by the club. [10]
