Some sources refer to different wolfpacks by name or provide lists of named wolfpacks, though this can be a misnomer. Donitz’s pack tactic envisaged a patrol line of six to ten boats (later, twenty to thirty or more) across a convoy route to search for targets. Convoy TM 1 was the code name for an Allied convoy during the Second World War. Nine tankers , escorted by Royal Navy warships, attempted to reach Gibraltar from Trinidad . The convoy was attacked by a U-boat wolf pack in the central Atlantic Ocean , and most of the merchant vessels were sunk.
The first convoy, designated UGF 1, was the invasion convoy sailing on 24 October 1942 and arriving on 8 November 1942. The F designated a convoy of faster ships.
