The Elzy G. Burkam House is a historic house located in Sioux City, Iowa, United States. Built in 1894, it is an example of a transitional house between the revival styles popular in the 19th century and the Colonial Revival style that became popular in the early 20th century. [2]
The North Side is the colloquial reference to the mostly residential neighborhood north of about 18th Street and ending near North High School. The former home of the Sioux City Public Museum, the historic John Peirce house, is a fine example of a Victorian home in this neighborhood; it was built from Sioux Falls rose quartzite (see Sioux Quartzite for the rock unit) in 1890.
The district is located within the larger Rose Hill Addition, which was laid out by a group of Sioux City entrepreneurs in 1884. The Sanford House, also known as the Stone House and Summit Mansion, is a historic residence in Sioux City, Iowa. [2] Throughout the 1990s, it was commonly referred to as the “Home Alone house” in reference to the similar looking neocolonial residence featured in the eponymous film that had become a pop culture phenomenon.
