The Blackout are a Welsh post-hardcore band from Merthyr Tydfil, formed in 2003. In 2007, the band released their debut album, We Are the Dynamite. Their second record, The Best in Town, was released in 2009. The band's third album, Hope, was released in 2011 and charted at number 27 in the UK album chart.
We Are the Dynamite is the debut studio album by Welsh rock band the Blackout, released on 1 October 2007 by Fierce Panda Records, their final release on the label.The album sold 12,000 copies in its first week of release. [4]
The Blackout promoted Hope with two tours of the United Kingdom, and appearances at the Reading & Leeds, and Merthyr Rock festivals in late 2011. [4] Shortly after the first promotional tour, the band started writing new material for the next album, with the rough of idea of centering it around partying. [5]
In August 2008, vocalist Sean Smith said the band had written six new songs, and were aiming to record a new album later in the year. They were in the process of discussing with a few labels. [ 8 ] Following this, the group went on a UK tour in September and October, [ 9 ] with a handful of Christmas shows in December. [ 10 ]
The Blackouts were a punk rock band formed in Seattle in 1979 by singer/guitarist Erich Werner, bassist Mike Davidson, and drummer Bill Rieflin, who were all former members of a local punk band, The Telepaths. In 1992, Blackout! returned to punk when they chanced upon a female-fronted band, The Goops, playing at CBGB's and decided to release their records. The Goops toured with Rancid and after an appearance in the soundtrack to the Kevin Smith film Mallrats , signed to Kinetic Records, a part of Reprise/Warner Brothers in 1995.

The album was first announced in mid-2010 that the band had begun work on the album. The album was recorded at the end of 2010 and was funded by donations by fans on the website PledgeMusic . Recording was held at AIR Studios , Angelic Studios, and The Yard, with producer Jason Perry .
