Jupiter is the northernmost town in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. According to the 2020 US Census, the town had a population of 61,047. It is 84 miles north of Miami and 15 miles north of West Palm Beach. Along with the adjacent Village of Tequesta, Jupiter is considered the northernmost municipality in the Miami metropolitan area.
In 1889, Bishop John Moore asked the Benedictines to establish several mission churches on the Florida Gulf Coast from Pasco County northward. [15] Saint Mary, Our Lady of Grace, founded in 1908, was the first Catholic parish in St. Petersburg. [16] The first Catholic church in Clearwater, St. Cecilia, was dedicated in 1924. [17]
