Salbutamol/budesonide, sold under the brand name Airsupra, is a fixed-dose combination medication for the treatment of bronchoconstriction and asthma. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] It is a combination of salbutamol sulfate (albuterol sulfate), a short-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist , and budesonide , an inhaled corticosteroid .
Various asthma guidelines, such as the Global Initiative for Asthma Guidelines [GINA], the British Guidelines on the management of Asthma, The Canadian Pediatric Asthma Consensus Guidelines, and United States Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Asthma each recommend metered dose inhalers in place of nebulizer-delivered therapies. [3]
Salbutamol, also known as albuterol and sold under the brand name Ventolin among others, [1] is a medication that opens up the medium and large airways in the lungs. [8] It is a short-acting β 2 adrenergic receptor agonist that causes relaxation of airway smooth muscle . [ 8 ]
Ipratropium bromide/salbutamol, sold under the brand name Combivent among others, is a combination medication used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). [1] [4] [5] It contains ipratropium (an anticholinergic) and salbutamol (albuterol, a β 2-adrenergic agonist).
Bitolterol mesylate (Tornalate) is a short-acting β 2 adrenergic receptor agonist used for the relief of bronchospasm in conditions such as asthma [1] [2] and COPD. [3] [4] [5] In these disorders there is a narrowing of the airways (bronchi and their ramifications) that carry air to the lungs.
The drug is banned due to health concerns about symptoms noted in consumers. These include increased heart rate, muscular tremors, headaches, nausea, fever, and chills. In several cases in Europe, these adverse symptoms have been temporary. [20] Clenbuterol is a growth-promoting drug in the β agonist class of compounds.
A 2013 systematic review of the drug's use as a treatment for acute asthma found that it "was not superior to albuterol regarding efficacy and safety in subjects with acute asthma." The review concluded: "We suggest that levalbuterol should not be used over albuterol for acute asthma." [2] Levalbuterol is notably more costly. [4] [5]
"Hokunarin Tape" used to treat asthma and bronchitis. Tulobuterol is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic receptor agonist, marketed in Japan as a transdermal patch under the name Hokunalin tape (ホクナリンテープ).
