Sciadopitys verticillata, the kÅyamaki or Japanese umbrella-pine, is a unique conifer endemic to Japan, Sakhalin, and Kuril Islands. It is the sole living member of the family Sciadopityaceae and genus Sciadopitys , a living fossil with no close relatives.
