Wright State was founded in 1964 as a branch campus of both Miami University (Ohio) and Ohio State University.The school began its athletic program in 1968 as an NCAA Division II school, where the athletics program achieved great success, having over 200 All-American athletes and winning the 1983 Division II Men's Basketball national championship.

The Wright State Raiders men's basketball is the men's college basketball team that represents Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio. The school's team currently competes in the Horizon League at the NCAA Division I level. The Raiders won their only national championship in 1983 as an NCAA Division II school.

She began her career in athletics working for the Midwestern Collegiate Conference.She later served as Assistant Athletic Director at Wright State University.She left Wright State to begin a ten-year duration at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) where she served as Director of Academic and Membership Affairs.
Wright State University was launched in the mid-1960s along with Cleveland State University to add additional public education opportunities in Ohio. Under the leadership of Dr. Brage Golding, It became an independent school in 1967, and by 1968 the school decided to launch an athletic department. Dr. Golding asked Don Mohr to lead this effort.

The 2024–25 Wright State Raiders men's basketball team represents Wright State University in the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.The Raiders, led by first-year head coach Clint Sargent, play their home games at the Nutter Center, located in Fairborn, Ohio but with a Dayton mailing address, as members of the Horizon League.
