On August 26, 2007, MDOT designated the southern section of M-35 along Lake Michigan as the UP Hidden Coast Recreational Heritage Trail running for 64 miles (103 km) between Menominee and Gladstone. [ 39 ] [ 40 ] As a part of the Pure Michigan Byways Program, M-35 passes the mouths of the Cedar and Bark rivers.
