Named for Silver Lake, which borders the four towns which belonged to the district for most of its history – Plympton, Halifax, Pembroke and Kingston - and which is situated near the campus, Silver Lake Regional High School opened on September 19, 1955, attended by students from the towns of Pembroke, Kingston, Plympton, Halifax and Carver in southeastern Massachusetts.
Silver Lake High School has claimed 18 Academic team titles. Debate: The high school debate team won the Kansas State 3-2-1A 4-Speaker Tournament in 1996, 2013, 2014, and 2018. They also won the Kansas State 3-2-1A 2-Speaker Tournament in 1996, 1997, 2004, 2007, and 2013.

The community is served by Silver Lake USD 372 public school district, which operates two schools: Silver Lake Jr/Sr High School and Silver Lake Elementary School. There used to be a Silver Lake Kindergarten until 2009, when it merged with the Elementary school. The old Kindergarten building has since been turned into a district office.

The schoolhouse is built on land once belonging to Dr. Robert H. Rose, who owned all of the land when Silver Lake Township was first formed.
