On 24 July 1877, the archdeaconry of Stoke-upon-Trent was created from the northern part of the Stafford archdeaconry. [1] After the deanery of Stafford was transferred on 26 September 1979 to the Stoke archdeaconry, [2] Stafford archdeaconry was renamed the archdeaconry of Lichfield on 25 April 1980. [3] The present archdeacon is Dr Sue Weller.
It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Wrockwardine, the archdeaconry of Salop, and the diocese of Lichfield. Its benefice is united with those of twelve local churches. [1] The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. [2]
