The Big Buffalo Valley Historic District, also known as the Boxley Valley Historic District, is notable as a cultural landscape in Buffalo National River. It comprises the Boxley Valley in northern Arkansas, near the town of Ponca. The valley includes a number of family-operated farms, primarily dating between 1870 and 1930.
The principal building on the site is the separately listed Big Duck. [2] It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008 [1] as part of plans to build a heritage park, picnic area, museum and rest stop. [3] The Big Duck Ranch hosts various events, such as historic car shows, [4] and is open year-round. [5]

The lodge is symbolic of the hunting industry in the Grand Prairie of Arkansas, which is known for its plentiful duck and fish. The first lodge at this site was built in 1938 by Sam Fullerton, who owned the Bradley Lumber Company. Used primarily during duck hunting season, the lodge served to entertain Fullerton's customers in the lumber industry.
