"Kanmani Anbodu Kadhalan" (transl. To my love, Kanmani ) is a song from the Tamil film Gunaa (1991) composed by Ilaiyaraaja , written by Vaali and sung by Kamal Haasan and S. Janaki . [ 2 ] The song was noticed for having dialogues interspersed between the lines, [ 3 ] and it was notably one of the few conversational songs in Tamil cinema.
The music composed by Ilaiyaraaja, and the lyrics were written by Vaali. [29] While releasing the audio cassette of Gunaa in 1991, Haasan included some audio recording sessions with Ilaiyaraaja. "Kanmani Anbodu Kadhalan" became a milestone in Tamil cinema for the way it mixed dialogue and lyrics.

Praveen of The Hindu described Shyam's music being "immersive and understated"; he further appreciated Shyam for the placement of the song "Kanmani Anbodu Kadhalan" from Gunaa (1991) at the end of the rescue sequence where it was "so elegantly pulled off that it almost manages to rewrite the memory of the scene in the original".
