State Route 4 By-Pass (SR 4B or SR 4 Bypass, known locally as Bypass 4) [15] is a 5.97-mile-long (9.61 km) [16] north–south state highway through Butler County in the western part of the state. The route runs from SR 4 in Fairfield to SR 4 in Fairfield Township north of the Hamilton city limits.

State Route 7 (SR 7), formerly known as Inter-county Highway 7 until 1921 [3] and State Highway 7 in 1922, [4] is a north–south state highway in the southern and eastern portions of the U.S. state of Ohio. At about 336 miles (541 km) in length, it is the longest state route in Ohio. [5]
At this time, Ohio State Route 45 was known as the Warren-Ashtabula Turnpike, which ran from Wellsville to Lake Erie. It was an important part of the Underground Railroad. During the 1896 presidential campaign, Democratic candidate William Jennings Bryan addressed a crowd in Wellsville from the back of a train.
