The school has an extensive program of rooms and labs, the biggest are SC2 and SC6 in the Science Wing. A new Science Wing was added to the old building, forming a quadrangle in the centre of the school, which contains a heart-shaped pond overlooked by a statue of the Virgin Mary, marking the end of the second millennium.
The Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills (Ofsted) is a non-ministerial department of His Majesty's government, reporting to Parliament.Ofsted's role is to make sure that organisations providing education, training and childcare services in England do so to a high standard for children and students.
The Education (Schools) Act 1992 (c. 38) set up a system of school inspections by the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills (Ofsted). The reports written by independent inspection teams and published by Ofsted are made public and the inspections are carried out according to a National Framework to ensure consistency across the country.
The Ofsted Data Dashboard for the school showed that the 2012 results were a slight increase from the previous year with 2% more achieving 5 A*-C grades including maths and English, with a 2% decrease in the number of students achieving English A*-C (58%) leaving the school in the 4th quintile measured against both similar and all schools.
Abbey Grange Church of England Academy is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in West Park, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.It is one of two Church of England secondary schools in Leeds, the other being Bishop Young CE Academy.
Students achieved 100%, 9-4 grades in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Polish. 96% of Sixth Form students gained 3 or more A levels. From a cohort of 104 students, 61 A*/A grades or equivalent were gained. [1] A May 2017 Ofsted Inspection rated the school as outstanding. [2]
The Academies are situated across two sites: the Lower Academy (for 11 to 14-year-olds) and the Upper Academy (for 14 to 19-year-olds). There is a Sixth Form on the Upper Academy site. The Academies opened in 2009, under the sponsorship of The Stanton Lane Educational Trust. Both Academies are housed in modern buildings. [1]
The last full inspection of the school by Ofsted was in 2016. The inspection team rated the overall effectiveness of the school as Outstanding in all areas, including the sixth form. [15] [16] A short inspection in 2022 repeated the judgement of Outstanding. [17]
