Interstate 80 (I-80) is a part of the Interstate Highway System that runs from San Francisco, California, to Teaneck, New Jersey.In Wyoming, the Interstate Highway runs 402.76 miles (648.18 km) from the Utah state line near Evanston east to the Nebraska state line in Pine Bluffs.
In Wyoming, I-80 reaches its maximum elevation of 8,640 feet (2,630 m) above sea level [4] at Sherman Summit, near Buford, which, at 8,000 feet (2,400 m), is the highest community on I-80. Farther west in Wyoming, the Interstate passes through the dry Red Desert and over the Continental Divide.
The Green River Tunnel is a pair of 1,138.2-foot (346.9 m) vehicular tunnels that carry Interstate 80 (Dwight D. Eisenhower Highway)/U.S. Route 30 through a rock ridge in Green River in Sweetwater County, Wyoming, United States. [1] The two tunnels, one for eastbound and one for westbound traffic, opened on October 28, 1966. [2]
