[1] The camp is open from April through October [2] and is one of the most popular places to stay in the valley. [3] Reservations typically fill up on the first day they become available.
Camp Curry, now known as Curry Village, was established in 1899 at the base of Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park. [2] Developed as an alternative to the first-class Sentinel Hotel, it offered a more affordable, rustic lodging experience.
Yosemite Park and Curry Company began operating the camp in 1926. The Vogelsang High Sierra Camp is located a hiking distance of 7.6 miles (12.2 km) north by the Fletcher Creek trail, or a hiking distance of 8.4 miles (13.5 km) north by the Fletcher Creek trail and then over Vogelsang Pass.
The hotel will close Dec. 2 with no date for reopening, according to the National Park Service.
In January 2016, it was announced that due to the trademark dispute with Delaware North, the Ahwahnee Hotel, as well as other historic hotels and lodges in the park, would be renamed. The Ahwahnee was renamed the Majestic Yosemite Hotel effective March 1, 2016. [32] [33] The names were restored in 2019 upon settlement of the dispute. [6]
