The L5P Duramax is the latest version of the Duramax V8 diesel engine.(engine code Y). Introduced in the 2017 model year, it was the most powerful diesel engine GM had produced, with 445 hp (332 kW) at 2,800 rpm and 910 lb⋅ft (1,234 N⋅m) at 1,600 rpm.
The Duramax I6 engine is a diesel engine available in select models of General Motors light-duty trucks and SUVs. Applications include the Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra 1500 , Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Yukon XL , Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon , and Cadillac Escalade (both short wheelbase and ESV).
Powered by a 6.6L Duramax V8, the 4×4 used a 5-speed Allison 2000 series transmission in 2005–2006 (replaced by a 6-speed Allison 2350 automatic) with a New Process 273C transfer case; all GMT560 4×4s came with a 5.13:1 rear axle ratio.
After 2016, the 6.6 L Duramax diesel V8 was discontinued; a 2.8 L inline-4 Duramax (the first four-cylinder in a full-size Chevrolet van since 1964) replaced it as the diesel engine offering. For 2018, an "EcoTec3" 4.3 L V6 was introduced as the base gasoline engine; the same year, CNG/LPG capability was added as an option to the 6.0 L V8.
