F250. Liquid lubricant will cause fiber swelling which will put even more pressure (friction) on the bit in the hole and will bind the bit that much faster. Do NOT use liquid lubricant in wood. Your best solution, and the RIGHT solution, is as has already bee mentioned - sharp bit and retract bit to remove shavings every couple of inches of depth.
Trying to drill it out would be tough since they are pretty hard. If you have 3/8" sticking up you may be able to get a pipe wrench on it which will bite better as it tightens. Or maybe a broken stud extractor if you have one. If that wont work maybe drill a hole in the concrete next to it to relieve some of the pressure and give it some movement.
The term "bronze oxide" probably refers to the color of the coating, as copper oxide or tin oxide are also quite soft, and would not be useful as coatings on high speed drill bits, unlike titanium, cobalt, or various nitrides, which are quite hard. Similarly, the term "black oxide" seems to be a generic term for an oxide coating on the bit to ...
Yes, there are self-drilling drywall screws specifically designed for attaching sheetrock to metal studs. These screws have a sharp point that can drill through the metal studs without the need for pre-drilling. They are usually identified as having a "Type S" or "SD" designation. Make sure to use the correct screw length for the thickness of ...

I'm wondering if there is a better high speed bit I could use to avoid repeatedly having to pull the bit and shavings out of the hole, especially when going down through 2 or 3 timbers at once ? If ...
Eg. 8mm Bolt has a 14mm shield. So use a 14mm concrete drill. Two: Read this blogpost for a list of all the required Rawlbolt drill sizes. Industrial Supply News Notes: 1. Make sure you drill the substrate the correct length, the shield should fit from the collar to the bottom nut. If you drill the hole to short the shield will pull out.
Can I just buy a masonry bit and drill it with a 3/8" corded drill? I was assuming I can, and thought it might take a little longer, but it could be done, esp. since it's a concrete block (not poured concrete) foundation. Then I watched a few youtube videos and some say it's not a good idea. But I'm not going to buy or rent a hammer drill for 8 ...

No, it will not be anchoring to the terrazzo, but to the concrete slab under it. I tried a Tapcon bit which chews through concrete no problem and it's hardly making a dent on this terrazo.

You really don't need a lot of tapcons to hold each plate in place. Typically, I like one at each end, and one every 4' or so.
