Thanks Clint. I have used that recipe and it works well. In my ultrasonic cleaner, I use a mix of vinegar, with a capful of liquid laundry detergent and about a cup of hydrogen peroxide. Really gets the gunk off and out of the brass. I then rinse in hot water, shake in a colander and then dry in my blue oven on low heat.
"LA's Totally Awesome All Purpose Cleaner Rust, Lime, Calcium remover for tiled walls, bathrooms, and showers. The active ingredient is citric acid. It looks, smells and acts exactly like the Birchwood Casey Liquid Cartridge Case Cleaner, only a lot cheaper! Pour enough in a blastic container (I use a cut down gallon bleach bottle) to cover the ...
Using my Harbor Freight ultrasonic cleaner for the first time tonight. I'm experimenting with different homemade solutions using hot water, Simple Green, vinegar and Lemi Shine. It gets the brass really clean inside and out, but it's still leaving the primer pockets dirty.
It will not damage your brass. Here is a recipe for cleaning grungy brass, 1 quart of water 1 cup white vinegar 1/2 cup lemon juice 1/4 cup liquid laundry or dishwashing detergent I use a net bag to place brass in and dip it into cleaner and let soak for 20 to 30 minutes, aggitating every 5 minutes or so.

The combination of ingredients makes for an excellent bore cleaner and general degreaser that will leave an extremely thin layer of synthetic oil on most metal parts. It needs to be stated that it is possible that the concoction may react with some wood finishes since one component is acetone.
Homemade Brass Tumbler Math Demystified. The latest craze in how to clean your brass is with stainless steel media in a rock polisher instead of in a vibratory cleaner as was the norm for years. Living in Canada I get taken to the cleaners when it comes to cross border shipping and sometimes buying local can be just as hard on the wallet.
I've had the same corn cob media in my tumbler for about 15 years now. It's long past it's prime as a cleaner / polisher. So wile I was in the kitchen shopping for reloading supplies I stumbled across a 20 lb bag of medium grain Jasmine rice. I'd heard mention of using it to clean brass befor, so I thought I'd give it a try.
The other thing I learned was to get as much of the rinse water off the brass before drying or spots would form. I use a pillow case with about 10 micro fiber towels together with the brass. Rotate and tumble the pillow case so the brass rolls around so as to dry the brass as much as possible.
heres follow up on what has been suggested: i will try each one in the future but the one i tried today worked very well for me. i had a half a bottle of my 1/3 ballistol, antifreez, water mixture so i took a chance and filled the other half with alcohol. i shot 100 grains of 2f triple 777 behind a 620 grain .45 cal pp bullet. it shot very very accurate at 100 yards. and the good news is the ...
