An active community of residents and others; the official subreddit for Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, and nearby places in the greater Tri-state region. Anyone else’s Cincinnati Bell internet been crap lately? For the past 3 to 4 weeks our internet has gone down at least once a week for multiple hours.
Cincinnati Bell only if you actually physically go into a store. I finally went in after being screwed over multiple times and dealt with the outsourced customer service who actually told me to switch to spectrum. I had been quoted 200 mbps with spectrum for $5 more than Cinci Bell was charging for 100mbps. In the store, they bumped me up to ...
Yes you can bridge mode without any NAT. I had to call them up in order to do this (many years ago FWIW). I use my own personal router while receiving a public IP address from CBT. Definitely can use your own router. The only worthwhile router if you have to get one from Cincinnati bell is the google wifi router.
I have Cincinnati Bell internet. My wireless home network has 26 devices connected. Among my many devices are 10 cameras that are on 24/7. I don't have cable, so all my TV watching is via streaming. I originally had Cincinnati Bell and had lots of problems. I switched to Spectrum and all was well until they raised the price.
based on the ama the deal seems to be if you have any type of package you can not. if you have Internet only you can. also it's worth noting if you get base tv and Internet it is about 5 cheaper than Internet only, so you are paying for this anyway you look at it. you essentially have to pay extra to get rid of the modem fee
You need a router with IPTV/VLAN ability to be set in bridge mode. Cincinnati Bell will tell you that you have to use their equipment. Users online will generally parrot this answer. That is incorrect. You simply need to purchase a router that supports IGMP proxying and IGMP snooping.
My Fioptics just jump to $60 a month. I called C. Bell to let them know TWC has a promotion for 20/2 for $45 a month. C. Bell couldn't come close. @ $8 a month rental, I decided to buy a Motorola surfboard wifi modem with 2 year sq trade warranty for $111. Setup will be the 4th. I gave C.Bell the opportunity - they fumbled.
We were told with Cincinnati Bell that we could cut the TV and just do the internet with no problems. For a basic package we get more TV shows/channels (not HD channels, but the ones that you pay a premium for with TWC). Cincinnati Bell has reliable service, we can download two video game updates at the same time and not wait for one to finish ...
It will rule out any random device in the middle. If your internet speed is reduced suddenly to a level that is consistently under 100mbps down (usually around 90) after you've been typically experiencing speeds several times that, you could have a failure in the ethernet cabling to your router.
I had Cincinnati Bell's gigabit internet service installed at my house yesterday, and that guy told me that the download speeds would be about 550-600 Mbps. The last I tested it, it was showing about 430. Just wondering what everyone else has for their download speeds. This is still crazy fast, but I thought that since I am paying for gigabit ...
