Pier Sixty-Six is a resort and marina located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Situated on 32 acres, the Pier Sixty-Six property sits on the north and south sides of the 17th Street Causeway Bridge. [1] In 2016, Tavistock Development Company acquired the property and initiated a redevelopment project for Pier Sixty-Six. [2]
In 1904, the pier was extended, and the range lights were moved lakeward. In 1906/07, the present set of range lights was constructed. [6] The 1859 lighthouse remained in use until 1919 when a tower was erected on the south pier. It was demolished in 1955. In 2008, the north pier inner and outer range lights were deemed excess.
The entrance to Destin Harbor, a lagoon between the beaches and the main body of the western portion of the peninsula, is located just north of the East Pass jetty. The lagoon is formed by a sand spit named Holiday Isle; many condominiums have been built along the harbor since the 1970s. [11]
The Destin Fishing Rodeo hosts daily weigh-ins from 11am CST to 7pm CST behind AJ's Seafood & Oyster Bar on the Destin Harbor. The tournament leaderboard is displayed right next to the weigh-in dock.
