The Huguenot cemetery, or the "Huguenot Burial Ground", has since been recognised as a historic cemetery that is the final resting place for a wide range of the Huguenot founders, early settlers and prominent citizens dating back more than three centuries. Some Huguenot immigrants settled in central and eastern Pennsylvania.

The mortal remains of President S.J.P. Kruger lay in state here from 1 December to 6 December 1904. The grounds for the memorial were not easily obtained. The Huguenot Memorial Society had to go to the Supreme Court in order to secure the rights to the disused cemetery where they intended to erect the building. [2]

The museum presents education programs e.g. history of the Huguenots, Fynbos, Khoisan, Architecture and Genealogy / Families. Guided tours of the museum for visitors are also available. The annual Huguenot Festival presented by the Huguenot Society in conjunction with the museum takes place in the last weekend of October.
