Ray Roberts Lake State Park is a state park located in Denton County, Texas, near Pilot Point, Texas. The park is 3,777 acres (1,528 ha). [ 2 ] It is very popular due to its proximity to the Dallas–Fort Worth metro area – in 2016, it was the 8th most popular Texas state park with 244,193 visitors. [ 3 ]
Lake Casa Blanca International State Park is a 525-acre state park located in Laredo, Texas, United States a few miles east of the border with Mexico. [2] The park was originally managed by Webb County and the City of Laredo. It opened as a state park in 1991 and is managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. [3]
The park was dedicated by former Texas Governor Pat Neff and opened to the public in May 1941. [1] Old Fort Parker, their spring is located on the left. Fort Parker State Park has three hike-and-bike trails: Springfield trail (1.5-mile loop), Navasota River Trail (0.5 mile one way), and Baines Creek Trail (2.5 miles one way).
Much of the Monahans Sandhills are privately owned property. The state of Texas is operating a 99-year lease with the Sealy-Smith Foundation for the ranch on which most of the land of the state park is located; the park opened to the public in 1957, and the state park has leasehold rights to this parcel of the sand hills until 2056.
By the late 1960s, Stewart's heirs wanted a park to be established. In 1969, under the State Parks Bond Program, 1,950 acres of the private land was purchased from the heirs. A small part of the original property with the family's Stewart Mansion was not included in the sale. The state park opened to the public in 1975.
