The song was sung by Darleen Carr playing the part of the girl from the Man Village (later named Shanti in 2003's The Jungle Book 2). The song was written by Disney staff songwriters, Robert and Richard Sherman. [1] This song serves as the basis for the Sarah Brightman song "On the Nile" and was sampled in the Slum Dogz song "The Jungle Book".
The Jungle Book 2 was released on both VHS and DVD on June 10, 2003. The bonus features included the behind-the-scenes, some music videos, "W-I-L-D", "I Wan'na Be like You" and "Jungle Rhythm", and deleted scenes. It was rereleased on June 17, 2008 as a "Special Edition" DVD with additional bonus features.

In the CGI series The Jungle Book, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is an occasional character who is a friend of Mowgli. The story was adapted as a picture book of the same name in 1997 by Jerry Pinkney . Donovan ’s album Open Road has the song Riki Tiki Tavi, which has lyrics based off the story.
