The Delta Democrat Times (sometimes spelled Delta Democrat-Times) is a daily [1] newspaper that has been published in Greenville, Mississippi, United States since 1938, when Hodding Carter merged his Delta Star, which he started with his wife Betty Werlein in 1936, with the Democrat Times, which had been in publication since 1868, [2] [3] calling it the Greenville Delta Democrat-Times.

Curtis G. Maddox (August 10, 1935 – August 21, 2018) was an American football and basketball coach. He served as the head football coach at Mississippi Valley State College—now known as Mississippi Valley State University—from 1966 to 1967 and Norfolk State University from 1968 to 1971, compiling a career college football coaching record of 17–33–1.
Greenwood High School is the only public high school in Greenwood. As of 2014, the student body is 99% black. Amanda Elzy High School, outside of the Greenwood city limits, was formerly of the Leflore County district. It was recently taken over by the State of Mississippi for poor performance as a result of deficient leadership.
