HSAB theory can also be used to predict the products of a metathesis reaction. Salt metathesis is often employed to obtain salts that are soluble in organic solvents. Illustrative is the conversion of sodium perrhenate to the tetrabutylammonium salt: [2] NaReO 4 + N(C 4 H 9) 4 Cl → N(C 4 H 9) 4 [ReO 4] + NaCl

  3. Tetraethylammonium - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetraethylammonium

Tetraethylammonium (TEA) is a quaternary ammonium cation with the chemical formula [Et 4 N] +, consisting of four ethyl groups (−C 2 H 5, denoted Et) attached to a central nitrogen atom. It is a counterion used in the research laboratory to prepare lipophilic salts of inorganic anions.

The [BAr F 4] − anion with four fluorinated aryl groups distributed tetrahedrally about a central boron atom. Tetrakis[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]borate is an anion with chemical formula [{3,5-(CF 3) 2 C 6 H 3} 4 B] −, which is commonly abbreviated as [BAr F 4] −, indicating the presence of fluorinated aryl (Ar F) groups.

    acid-base reactions: L n MOR' + RCO 2 H → L n MO 2 CR + R'OH protonolysis: L n Malkyl + RCO 2 H → L n MO 2 CR + alkane oxidative addition: L n M + RCO 2 H → L n (H)MO 2 CR. From preformed carboxylate, salt metathesis reactions are common: L n MCl + RCO 2 Na → L n MO 2 CR + NaCl. Metal carboxylates can be prepared by carbonation of ...

I wouldnt add it, although your observations are insightful. My reasoning: (1) salt metathesis is really intended for salt-like reagents, (2) Wikipedia guidelines urge us not to make it into a textbook. The encylopedia is intended to give and explain facts, but not to go much farther.

  8. Potassium chlorate - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potassium_chlorate

The low solubility of KClO 3 in water causes the salt to conveniently isolate itself from the reaction mixture by simply precipitating out of solution. Potassium chlorate can be produced in small amounts by disproportionation in a sodium hypochlorite solution followed by metathesis reaction with potassium chloride: [7] 3 NaOCl → 2 NaCl + NaClO 3
