The templates below make use of {{OSM Location map}} to provide a formatted, content-rich map of a particular place in the world. They can provide a stand-alone framed map, or in many cases will successfully integrate with an infobox.

Location maps achieve this purpose by highlighting more in-depth geography within the context the student is familiar with.
Usage: These maps are used especially by Template:Location map which uses geolocalisations to add a location mark (like ) and/or a label onto the map in the browser.They are also used as background for locator maps to enlight the place and area of major subdivisions in a country, of a species range, etc.

Creation: Historical maps are conveniently derivate from country or wider area Location maps. The map maker have to color the background (ocean, land, rivers, subject area) to the Locator maps conventional colours. To create up on areas, the map maker is suggested to use Areas maps colours.
