Beth Robertson Fiddes is a contemporary Scottish artist. Raised on Tiree and in Kingussie, [1] Robertson Fiddes graduated from the Edinburgh College of Art in 1995 with a degree in sculpture. [2] She won the 1997 Benno Schotz Award [2] and second in the 2011 Jolomo Bank of Scotland Awards for her Scottish landscape painting. [1]
He attended Glasgow School of Art, from 1967 to 1971. He was forced to make a choice between making abstract designs for fashion and landscape painting and chose the latter. While his classmates favoured pop art and abstraction, he developed an expressionist style, influenced by artists such as Kokoschka, Chagall and Soutine. [2]
The earliest examples of Scottish landscape painting are in the tradition of Scottish house decoration that arose in the sixteenth century. Often said to be the earliest surviving painted landscape created in Scotland is a depiction by the Flemish artist Alexander Keirincx undertaken for Charles I .
Philip Raskin (born 1947 in Glasgow) is a Scottish artist who has achieved notability within the contemporary Scottish art scene. He specialises in painting landscapes and seascapes. His works have been the subject of many exhibitions and have been sold throughout the world. He is the father of TV presenter and antiques expert Natasha Raskin.
In this landscape he saw the tension between humanity and nature. Despite his abstract tendencies, Johnstone's work still retained a physical sense of the visual world. This is demonstrated in his most celebrated painting A Point in Time 1929–1937 now owned by the National Galleries of Scotland .
