Disney Princess, also called the Princess Line, [2] is a media franchise and toy line owned by the Walt Disney Company. Created by Disney Consumer Products chairman Andy Mooney , the franchise features a lineup of female protagonists who have appeared in various Disney franchises.
Despite not being a princess by birth nor by marriage, Mulan holds an honorary Disney Princess status as part of the official Disney Princess lineup. The character is based on the title character of Hans Christian Andersen's 1837 fairy tale "The Little Mermaid" but was developed into a different personality for the 1989 animated film adaptation.
